In Bucharest, Romania, the Orthodox Patriarchal Cathedral is one of the popular stops on tours. Its interior is filled with beautiful frescoes and golden icon works.
It is a functioning religious and civic landmark that, thankfully, escaped the communist demolition program that ravaged so many historical buildings in the city.

I have always enjoyed your very interesting emails (and they ALL are). I am rather well-traveled for an American, but have been able to do it as a group leader, though not a guide. With extensions after the group has departed, I’ve been to even more places, but not as many as you, and I am envious. My days of planning for and leading a group are past, but my feet still itch! Romania is still on my bucket list, along with some other European places. I saved Europe for last.

You’re very lucky to be so well-traveled. But you’ve neglected Europe until now? Oh….you have some wonderful treats in your future!
And thank you for the very kind words.
