If you only have 24 hours in Rome, here are the great places you’ll enjoy seeing, and things you’ll enjoy doing…the Colosseum, Vatican City, the Pantheon, Fountain of Trevi, the Piazza Navona…and, of course, gelato at Giolitti, which arguably serves the best gelato in the world.
There are innumerable places to visit in Rome, perhaps too many for a visitor who doesn’t return again and again.
I, however, do return again and again, because I love this city that can be so chaotic, confusing, crowded and complicated. And that’s only part of its charm.
There are many places to visit in Rome, a beautiful city built on a layer cake of history. The cake has an icing of ancient buildings, myriad museums and galleries, and fountains and monuments around every corner. You can add to that an uncountable number of delizioso ristorantes and cafés, gelato shops and coffee bars.
Rome is always at the top of the list of the top places to visit in Italy. For the first-time visitor with much to see, it’s both exciting and overwhelming. In fact, it’s so overwhelming that even long-time visitors face an incredible choice of things to do.
A day in Rome can be an incredible time…that will have you planning for a return trip to this wonderful city.

Hi Jim, This may be common knowledge, but shortcutting the lines is essential, especially at the Vatican and Colosseum almost any time of the year. Cheers – Stan
